CFCL Australia Pty Ltd (CFCLA) was established in 1997 with the backing of its US parent company Chicago Freight Car Leasing co. which owns and manages a fleet of over 10,000 items of rolling stock to a wide variety of operators and shippers in the United States.

Since then, CFCLA has rapidly become the leading supplier of leased locomotive power and rolling stock to Australian rail operators. When current wagon and locomotive build contracts are fulfilled, CFCLA will have a rolling stock fleet of over 1300 wagons and 70 operating locomotives at its disposal, with an asset value of $200 million.

Our mission is to be the leasing market leader in the provision and management of railway equipment and provide a first rate, responsive service to our customer’s specific requirements.

CFCLA is focused on supplying highly reliable, new or near new locomotives, rolling stock and infrastructure equipment to the diversified base of operators, shippers and mining companies that are increasing rail’s share of the Australian freight task. We provide our expert maintenance know how ability through our specialized and extensive maintenance workshops developed over many years of experience by our parent company in the US and local acquisitions.

Our local Australian knowledge and expertise in the rail industry is second to none and we have expert capabilities within our team to provide creative solutions and support to the growing rail industry in Australia. Flexible operating lease facilities are provided that can be tailored to a customer’s short, medium, or long term contract needs. A complete “turn-key” service with the option of full maintenance back-up can also be incorporated into leases.

Team

Our team in Australia comprises a skilled workforce in all facets of the rail industry who are in turn supported by the parent company in the US through regular input and visits by senior personnel from Chicago Freight car Leasing Co.

The Australian based team possess expertise in equipment procurement, construction and refurbishment, the provision of operational support, safety and accreditation services and maintenance services on a national basis. We have representatives in every state for the convenience of our customers.

We also provide 24 hour help desk support services and use GPS tracking systems with the best technology available to monitor the location and performance of our equipment on an ongoing basis.
