Bluebird Rail Operations Pty Ltd (BRO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of CFCL Australia.   

Bluebird Rail Operations Pty Ltd (BRO) was established in 1998 and is based at the Islington Rail Complex, South Australia, and has developed a reputation as a quality provider of rail engineering services.  Currently employing over 100 highly skilled and experienced maintenance, fabrication, mechanical and electrical tradesmen, BRO excels in:

• Freight wagon manufacture and upgrade
• Passenger and Crew Car remanufacture and upgrade
•  Field and workshop inspections and maintenance
• Servicing of locomotives, rollingstock, and track plant/machinery
• Bogie overhaul and assembly
• Air brake component overhaul

With dual gauge access from the main line through Adelaide, the workshop buildings are fully equipped for manufacturing, maintenance, and modification to all type of rollingstock.  Bluebird Rail Operations currently occupy a number of buildings in the Islington Complex, and include:

• Fabrication Shop 10,000 sq meters
• Paint shop 2,200 Sq meters
• Locomotive Shop 1,600 sq meters
• General wagon pre work Shed 7,000 sq meters         

     With an impressive and ever growing customer base, some of the exciting projects recently completed at Bluebird Rail Operations include:

• Manufacture of 100 CQMY 80ft container wagons for CFCLA
• Remanufacture of 70  AOPY Ore Wagons for ARG/Portman Mining.
• Conversion of 42 AOOX Wagons to CQQY Wagons container wagons for CFCLA
• Manufacture of RMEY Triple Deck Articulated Car Carriers for Pacific National
• Manufacture of Crew Vans for Freightlink, Pacific National, and SCT
• Conversion of CHMF to CHOY remote control ballast hoppers for CFCLA 
• Upgrade and retention toilet installation for GSR passenger fleet
• Refurbishment of CDAY1, the “CFCL President’s Car
